The vine has dried up, and the fig tree has withered; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree — all the trees of the field are withered; surely joy has withered from the sons of men. Joel 1:12
The picture here is that of utter desolation. Many trees of the field that provide food and wine were destroyed by the invading enemy. The enemy attacked their core: their source of livelihood, their economy.
There is no easier way to bring someone to their knees than through their economic deprivation. Even their little remaining dignity will become a victim of the enemy’s war on them.
However, there is a way to stop the enemy. Repentance. If true and genuine repentance is exhibited, God can stop the enemy. This is because more often than not, the enemy could attack due to the presence of sin in or by the victim. So, that can be fixed with the simple act of obedience done in true repentance for the sins committed.
Simply accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour and you shall be saved. The blood of Jesus was shed to defend you against the malice of the enemy no doubt. But if you don’t accept the finished work of salvation, how will it count for you? You got to do your part!
Jesus loves you.
As you go out today, may His presence grant you the needed grace to overcome all the traps of the enemy in Jesus name. Amen.
