Boasting versus Wisdom

Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard them.

Ezekiel 35:13

Yesterday brought a lot of good news. Today brought a lot of warning. The warning is focused on how we use our mouths.

Sometimes, what we do with our mouths could put us in trouble. Sometimes, part of wisdom is knowing what to say, when to say it and who to say it to.

Edom was busy boasting about how he would inherit the whole of Israel and Judah. It had its own issues but was busy pointing at the shortcomings and failures of others. This got God’s attention.

At times, when we see people in unpleasant situations, if we can’t help them, it is wise to keep quiet and search ourselves to see if we too have issues to deal with. This was the wisdom that Edom did not have. It cost him the anger of God.

He forgot one thing, Israel is still the apple of God’s eye. So, we need to be careful about a boasting that could become our undoing.

Nonetheless, we know that wisdom doesn’t jump on anyone; you have to ask God for it. The first step to becoming wise is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. He will surely grant you the grace of His love and power.

May this day bring you closer to the wisdom that matters in Jesus name. Amen.

Jesus is Lord!

Happy weekend, people.
