And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which bringeth their iniquity to remembrance, when they shall look after them: but they shall know that I am the Lord God. Ezekiel 29:16
The main sin of Egypt as seen here seems to be their readiness to act as Israel’s back up. From history, it appears that when Israel is in distress, the first place it ran to was Egypt. Even when Herod threatened the King of kings, His parents ran to Egypt for cover.
You wonder why this was a crime on its part? I really cannot answer that. I can only suggest that it could be because it was enabling Israel’s bad behaviour of lack of faith in God by His people. It was trying to substitute God in their hearts. But more importantly, it could be because it had committed its own sins, which was why God sent the plagues to it in the first instance during Moses’ Exodus Programme.
Sincerely, one thing we are sure of is that God is never unjust. He would not punish the innocent. He rewards kindness and chaste behaviour. This was seen when He sent Peter to the house of Cornelius to tell him about the Gospel due to his kind heart and righteous acts despite not yet having a full knowledge of Jesus Christ.
This shows us that when we work righteousness, God brings us into the knowledge of His current plan for the human salvation.
Today, it is coming to you as a clear message: Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. Walk in righteousness within that programme and you shall obtain His approval and mercy.
May you be humble enough in spirit and soul to accept His programme of salvation to save your life from His coming wrath in Jesus name.
