When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise. Ezekiel 27:33
Tyre was a great and prosperous kingdom. When you look at the litany of cities/countries that traded with it, you will be amazed. It was who was who in the ancient world.
What I even noticed today is that many of them had their specialisations in terms of products traded with and in Tyre. Tyrus was like the gateway to that world.
I was once at the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, waiting for my connecting flight to Dublin, Ireland for eight hours. From the airport’s large window in the waiting area, I watched different flights from different countries land and leave. That was when I realised that the Netherlands was a country which you could call a melting point of flights. Indeed, you could begin to see that you would not know how many flights come and go in your country if you didn’t have to be forced to start counting them. Or how busy a place your airport is until you have to watch the crisscrossing of flights there.
Now, this is to show us the extent of the prosperity of that land. You could compare it to one of the famous modern capitals in our world.
However, in a twinkling of an eye, Tyre was destroyed due to sin. All the prosperity gone. Only lamentations of what was could be heard.
Now we know better. You can easily solve this problem by acknowledging your faults and asking God for forgiveness. When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour, you obtain God’s mercy and forgiveness. The only catch is that it must be done with sincerity and true repentance for it to be effective.
I pray that the Lord gives you the grace to end this week with His mercy as your cloak of glory as you walk in His forgiveness for all your shortcomings through true repentance in Jesus name.
Jesus is Lord!
