Son of man, because Tyrus hath said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken that was the gates of the people: she is turned unto me: I shall be replenished, now she is laid waste. Ezekiel 26:2
Yesterday, we started on the topic of some kingdoms that were being punished because they were trying to kick Israel while she was down. It seems that the tendency of human beings to do this is very strong.
Today, the focus is on Tyre. It was a kingdom that felt its prosperity used to be threatened by Israel so it decided that Israel’s downfall was its lifting time.
Sincerely, why must one think that bringing down another person is the only way for one to rise? It is really foolishness. And such thoughts lead to wickedness, which eventually make the person’s ambition blind them to their humanity and become ruthless in a way that it becomes really difficult for the person to stop themselves from hurting others in order to climb.
It is healthy to desire to grow. It is healthy to desire to advance in life. But when it comes at the expense of going behind to destroy another person in order to move forward, that is not nice. When wishing others evil is the only way to move ahead in life, that is a wicked spirit.
The Bible is very clear on these things: God lifts up one and brings down another. It is absolutely His prerogative. You can actually do all the wicked things and not still get the position you are pursuing through such crooked means. However, people would have identified you as a selfish and self centred person not worthy of trust.
Nonetheless, there is one thing you can never do wrong to be lifted by God: Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour and living to please Him all your life. This is a more honourable way.
Jesus is Lord!
May His love and sacrifice grant you the grace to live to honour Him rather than yourself today and always in Jesus name. Amen.
