Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord God.
Ezekiel 24:24
Being a sign in this sort of manner is scary. As a prophet, Ezekiel was told he would lose his wife but must not mourn her.
This happened the following day.
The thing now is that it was just to project to Israel the fate awaiting them as God’s judgement.
Ezekiel had now gone beyond expressing God’s messages through metaphors to becoming the metaphor for God’s messages.
It should be heartrending. However, when we remember how Job was restored, it seems only comforting to believe that Ezekiel’s happiness would also be restored.
Nonetheless, the important lesson is that we should not become so stubborn that God had to use extreme measures to communicate with us.
Let’s start by first of all acknowledging our ways and asking God for forgiveness. That is basically by asking Jesus Christ to be our Lord and personal Saviour. That is the only way.
Jesus is Lord!
