Therefore, thus saith the Lord God; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given you to the fire for fuel, so will give inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 15:6
Here, Jerusalem was compared to a vine tree. The first question is if it had any status more than other trees in the forest.
The next question is if it is still useful when it has been used for fuel. It is already half burnt so what decorative use could it be used for by anyone?
Really, the allegory is apt.
The question I asked myself is: If it is used for fire, probably it could at least give some warmth.
However, the real question becomes, would it have fulfilled its main purpose.
So, the question takes us back to the usefulness of Jerusalem to God, when it has experienced the judgement of God. When it was whole, was it doing what it was meant to do, which was to obey and honour God so He could protect it. Now that it has experienced God’s heavy hand through the attack of its adversaries, so, how would it do what it was meant to do.
So, why wait until God’s hand goes against you before you learn to humble yourself before Him. Whoever you are, take that first critical step: Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour TODAY.
Jesus is Lord!
May His unfailing grace find you, refine you, and help you fulfil your life purpose in Jesus name. Amen.
