Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.
Ezekiel 7:25

There are two ways to look at the scripture in focus today. It announces a coming destruction, which it described throughout the chapter. Now the two pronged judgment describes what would happen to the citizens, their leaders and even their places of pride and arrogance. Nothing would be spared.

All of these came from their recalcitrant behaviours.

Let’s put Nigeria in the spotlight. My position had always been that if everyone would do right at their corner, Nigeria could be salvaged. My neigbhour totally agreed with me.

I was in a discussion across the fence with him yesterday while he was cutting down the branches of the tree in his compound covering the solar panels of the security light facing directly to my gate. It did not light up on Wednesday when I drove in from the church. So, I had to send him an SOS. If my husband were around, he would do it himself. But I needed my security light back on, so…

Anyway, as I was saying, while he was cutting down the branches, one fell right on my car’s windscreen from across his fence, so I had to run out of the house to ensure that no damage was done. Thankfully, there was none.

From there, we started talking about Nigeria and Nigerians. Sincerely, from top to bottom, everyone needs to get their acts together if we would save this country from destruction.
From the politician to the ordinary person on the street, we all need to clean up our acts if we really want our peace restored.

What thrilled me most was that he saw the situation the way I see it in terms of staying to fix our country rather than running away to fixed countries in the name of japa. No one else would fix ours for us. But what do I know.

If we learn the fear of God, no one would collect bribes to rig or change election results. The fear of God would make us ready to vote for truth, competence and our future well being rather than 1 kg to 50 kg of rice being peddled about.

It all starts with each of us accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour to get the power to say ‘no’ to these wicked behaviours.
