How is the gold become dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.
Lamentations 4:1

This scripture stood out to me this morning because gold is one shining object that we know doesn’t get dimmed. So, when gold is said to have become dim, we know that it signifies a serious corruption of something that should be precious. It is a sign of serious decline in value. That is a serious problem.

In the following verse, we learned that it is the sons of Zion, who were comparable to gold, who had become mere earthen pitchers. This is a serious comedown in value. How does gold turn to mere earth? On a serious note, this sort of comedown is really saddening. It is also avoidable.

This speaks to my people. A once proud people have been reduced to people hiring themselves to the highest bidder. The solution still remains in fighting for our dignity and ensuring that we refuse to be bought with money but ensure that at every level that we are we insist on doing the right thing. When we all wake up to this reality, the politicians will do right by us.

The truth is that every country gets the kind of leadership it deserves. If we would not stand our ground to do the right thing always, why should we think those we elected into office will do the right thing when they get there. Are they not products of our society?

To remain at the top requires doing right. To correct the rights of the past means beginning to do right from now on.

So, look at your operations and behavioural patterns, and see where you are falling short. Then take the important step to move forward.

Accept the free gift of Jesus Christ. Accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour. That gives you the needed foothold to do right always and in absolute courage rooted in faith in Him.

Jesus is Lord!
