Turn thou us unto thee, O Lord, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.
Lamentations 5:21
This scripture represents a heart that is ready to change its ways. When you look through this chapter, you see a documentation of the terrible things the Jews had gone through recorded here. They were really terrible and heart-rending experiences.
The problem I have with this scripture, however, is that the agency of the needed action was still being left to God. As in, the audacity!
How could they still be asking God to be the one to turn them? God sent prophets to them and warned them repeatedly of the consequences of their disobedience. But they would not hear.
Their responses were either to laugh at the prophets or to punish them, as we saw in what they did to Jeremiah in our previous posts.
Sincerely, we need to learn responsibility. As much as we would cry for God’s enabling grace to do what He requires of us, being responsible means taking action and doing what is necessary immediately. Not taking immediate action means procrastinating. That is not usually to our benefit in the long run.
Today is another opportunity. Will you take it?
Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour today. He is the ONLY Way, Truth, and Life. No one gets saved except by Him. His mercy covers you through His vicarious death on the Cross of Calvary to pay for your sins and His resurrection on the third day to justify you.
Jesus is Lord!
