His Compassions Fail Not

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

Lamentations 3: 22

Just one statement, affirming God’s compassion.

To misbehave is so much like us. His mercies are so easy to see and His compassions so easy to take for granted. However, we can do better.

Jeremiah’s poem here shows that Judah acknowledged the ruins all around as a result of their misbehaviour, which led to the destruction of Jerusalem. They acknowledged God’s punishment, leading to their enemies making them into a sport.

Nonetheless, they acknowledged that it could have been worse. They acknowledged that God’s compassion still saved them from the level of destruction that could have consumed them if they had not been shown mercy and compassion by God. This is where humility begins: knowing and acknowledging our faults and accepting that we are wrong. This is what is called repentance.

It should not stop here, though. We need to move a step further by acknowledging compassion as a leverage to move up in life by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour. This is where it becomes a thing of truth and mercy wrapped in His love and blood, which cleanses us and makes us a people truly redeemed.

So, there it is. Will you take that step today and accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour? His compassion calls on you to take this wise decision today.
