But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, and be not dismayed, O Israel: for, behold, I will save thee from afar off, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid. Jeremiah 46:27
God’s promise of rest and peace would sometimes seem so far away when looking at the chaos all around. However, we know that God does not lie. So, what we can do best is to trust Him. He never sleep nor slumber. This tells us that we need to be up and doing and totally focused on doing what is acceptable to Him.
Rather than looking at the chaos all around, we should be asking Him: “Lord, what will you have me do?” In the midst of that is the answer for our forward-movement.
He has also promised restoration and peace. It is worth looking forward to these. You know, the judgement meted out was deserved but the Lord still stretched out His hand of comfort and hope. That is the compassionate God that we serve.
This doesn’t mean we should be taking for granted His love and compassion. It means we should be doing better because we do not want to disappoint Him.
What then are the next steps towards this end? Let’s start by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Saviour. His compassion fails not. God bless you today and always as you do.
Jesus is Lord!
