Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah; The Lord hath not sent thee; but thou makest this people to trust in a lie.

The most dangerous position to be in is for God to come against you.

We learned yesterday that God had sent strong words to many nations about their impropriety, and the punishment they would receive would be meted out to them by the king of Babylon.

Of course, they continued to doubt God and live in that false sense of security from His wrath. We know that disobedience and doubt are major offences you can commit against God.

So, here comes the good guy. Prophet Hananiah decided to challenge Prophet Jeremiah to a prophetic contest. He basically said that Jeremiah was a liar. His verdict was that the reign of Nebuchadnezzar over them was just for two years and everything would go back to normal.

I am sure if you were the one, you would be so mad at God for embarrassing you. However, Jeremiah said calmly to the guy that the only test that makes a prophecy true or false over the ages had always been if it came to pass or not. He went home quietly and left the guy to his devices.

However, God doesn’t suffer fools gladly. He immediately gave His judgement on Hananiah. He sent Jeremiah back with a stronger message to show that Hananiah was the liar. He gave a judgement that Hananiah would die that same year because he misled the people to trust in a lie. And in the seventh month, Hananiah died from his indiscretion of calling God a liar.

So, this is the seventh month of our own calendar. You have the choice of living due to walking in righteousness before God and obtaining His mercy or choosing to die by calling Him a liar after He had given you His only pathway to true salvation.

You may not be a false prophet just seeking for the applause of people and 15 minutes of fame. Yours may be that you think in your warped mind that God lied by saying that Jesus is the ONLY way to obtain His saving grace. If you believe in many ways, you need His mercy to find your way back to the Cross of Calvary and your salvation. Today is another opportunity to save your life and destiny from being destroyed by the enemy of your soul, the devil and his agents.
