Jeremiah 19:9

I continued to look for scriptures about hope and encouragement every morning when I make the posts for this page. However, I cannot continue to tell you that there is no judgement when the evidence is all around us.

Many of us live in self denial. However, the picture painted in this scripture is what we saw through the pages of scriptures as what actually occurred in the history of the Israelites.

When in 2015 Bishop David Oyedepo was calling from the altar at Canaanland about the terrible things God was showing him would befall Nigerians if they didn’t act wisely and made the right choice, he was dragged on the social media as being partisan. Indeed, where we are now, it is only God that can help us. And the man had kept his mouth shut since and continued to look on.

Now I am not saying he could not have had his political preferences but the truth is that for a man with such vast influence and multi-interest membership to be giving such a strong warning on the altar, he knew what he saw. This is more poignant knowing that he barely preached politics on the altar, being very focused on the word that builds the faith and lives of his congregation.

So, when Jeremiah was being plotted against by the people God sent him to, is it any surprise that we are having such a repeat in our times? But as we know, ọrun n ya bọ, kii ṣ’ọrọ ẹnikan (the falling sky is not a matter that concerns only one person). So, we are all inside the situation now. To borrow a famous artiste’s song title, ‘las las, everyone go chop breakfast’.

The way out
All God asks of His people remain the same: to forsake their evil ways, repent of their sins and acknowledge God as their only true God and source of everything.

You too can start the chain of change in your corner and make Nigeria retrace her steps and get God’s mercy. Simply accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour.
