Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
Jeremiah 17:7
This anchors the core of what is possible and what is necessary. For us to enjoy great things, we need to understand that every promise has conditions. And every condition met brings us to our better place.
The blessedness promised above are listed here:
For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit (Jeremiah 17:8)
Look closely at the promises listed. They are all signs of a prosperous soul. They are consequences that follow a right choice.
Doing right is never wrong. Doing wrong and calling it right is the wrong thing. And the truth is that, none of it ever escapes God that gives just judgement (Jeremiah 17:10).
It is obvious that today’s scripture packs a punch. But what should be our focus is where we started from. Our trust in God is at the core our prosperity. And the prosperity that we get is all round: spirit, soul, body and everything connected with our lives.
Indeed, trusting in God is a non-negotiable sign of faith in Him, leading to absolute and timely obedience. When all these are in place, who can blame God for turning our little efforts into great yields?
So, it makes sense to look up to God as our only source. Even though you have a billion-dollar business or make millions from your career, if God’s blessings is not on it, it will still dry up and leave you stranded. So, ultimately, let our trust be only in God and not what instrument He is using to give us the good life.
