Does God Have Favourites?

Righteous art thou, O Lord, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?
Jeremiah 12:1

Can God be unrighteous in His judgements? Can He appear helpless to bring to justice to those who deserve it while the righteous appear to be suffering?

Sincerely, these will appear to be perfectly valid questions. The problem is: These questions do not represent the true nature of God.

Many of us sit on our own judgement thrones and throw accusations at God. We think we know that our neighbour where we live or work or even in church who deserves God’s punishment but seems to be prospering instead. I am sure many people in every clime would consider their politicians the worst scums of the earth that deserve God’s instant judgement but are enjoying a life of glitz instead. Nigerian politicians should top that list; many Nigerians will likely agree with this.

However, we forget one thing: God’s ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:9). You may think this sounds simplistic a solution. But when you read 2 Peter 3:9, you will find that God is giving people a very long rope in order for them to change their ways so He can forgive them of their sins when they repent. Even you reading this, do you know how much you offend God daily but He continues to give you the chance to correct your ways? If God will judge, who really can stand!

Revelation 6:17 (KJV)
For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

I believe that our attitude should be that of praying and preaching until the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ fills the land so much that anyone not walking in righteousness is the one who will be ashamed of their ways rather than they shaming the righteous as if it is wrong to do right all the time. That will likely give us the needed victory over this wickedness taking over our land.

In your corner, do right, live right and speak right. God will use that to change the world. Those who will not change even after all that will get their due: God’s fierce wrath and judgement.

Another group also in the danger of falling into God’s judgement are those reading this and still refuse to take action and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour. Don’t be caught up in the coming judgement and condemnation of the world. You can change the trajectory of your life story for God by repenting of your sins and confessing Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour. The choice is yours to make all the time.

Comment ‘Jesus is Lord’ and I will be glad to show you how.
