Disobedience is Due to Pride

Hear ye, and give ear, be not proud: for the Lord hath spoken.
Jeremiah 13:15

This simple scripture provides a profound solution.

When it is said that pride goes before the fall, it sounds cliche to some. However, the truth also is that obedience is the best solution to our problems.

Why do I say that?

The major reason many of us get into trouble with God is basically due to disobedience.

  1. If you are not saved, God has given you the template to access salvation. However, most of us will prefer to go at it through a roundabout way, telling ourselves that we are wiser than God. So, we deceive ourselves with the thought that once we are doing good, we are good. ‘After all, I am not harming anyone else.’ That is good for being a moralist; it doesn’t grant you salvation. God’s word is very clear: You have to believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord (Romans 10:9) before you can be saved. No amount of moral goodness or religious rites will grant you that.
  2. If you are saved, you must walk according to God’s clearly stated standards and not yours. You really have nothing to boast about (Ephesians 2:8&9). So, your salvation is a daily walk with God (Philippians 2:12). You listen to His instructions on all and everything, whether it is your life, food, relationships or even business, including career. Your decisions need to be guided by His word. Where you have confusion, pray and ask the Holy Ghost for direction. If your heart is sincerely asking, He will give you the answer to guide you through your dilemma or quagmire, even in things as simple as how to avoid traffic. He sees the end from the beginning. So, if you listen to Him, you will never be stranded.

However, more often than not, we prefer to choose our ways. It usually appears more sensible. But we end up finding that we are clueless.

Even if many Nigerians who were advocates of ‘change’ won’t acknowledge it, the 2015 change brought a change for the worse. May God’s mercy help us to find our way back to His prosperity in Jesus name.

Anyway, all I will say is that if we learn to trust God with our life and decisions, our lives will be easier.

So, let’s start with where it matters most: Today is the day of salvation. Do not leave till tomorrow what you can do today. Comment ‘salvation’ and I will be glad to show you how.

Jesus is Lord!
