Is there no medicine in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why doesn’t God do something? Why doesn’t he help?
Jeremiah 8:22 (TLB)

I have always read this scripture from King James Version (KJV) as a scripture to ask God for healing of our sick bodies. But today, reading it from The Living Bible (TLB), it sounds more like an accusation against God.

The nerve most of us have when we start questioning God rather than looking at the consequences of our decisions and asking God for mercy. The verse 4 showed that when most people missed their way, they would return and check where they missed their way and start all over. However, these people, full of themselves, would rather continue along this wrong path rather than take corrections. This leads to only destruction.

Making a mistake is not the issue; that is why we are still human. Sticking to and continuing to justify it is absolute foolishness.

So, instead of accusing God of not helping us out of the hole we dug ourselves into, I think we should first acknowledge our stupidity in digging ourselves into that hole first and drop our pompous self righteousness and acknowledge our shortcomings. Then let us humbly ask God for help and choose to walk in the right path after being rescued, if we are truly sincere. That is the sensible choice.

Whether in our family life, career, spiritual walk or relationships, we can put right where we had been wrong. All we need is the humility to acknowledge that we had been in the wrong and ask the Lord for help. We all know that He never says ‘no’ to a truly repentant heart that calls to Him for help.

The choice is yours to make today.

Comment ‘help’ and I will be glad to counsel and lead you to our great Help. Alternatively, just cry to Him from the depth of your heart to be your Lord and personal Saviour, He will answer you and do just that immediately.

God bless you.
