Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no other god but me: for there is no saviour beside me. Hosea 13:4
I know you are wondering why God is making this grand introduction of Himself. If you look at the preceding verses, they show that the people of Israel were kissing up to idols. He showed it clearly in the verse before the one of focus today that people like that become ephemeral, like the morning cloud and early dew, which disappear once the sun is up.
So, God told them clearly that their idolatry was a trap which would take them nowhere. I remember clearly this being emphasised during our last Biblical Billionaires Conference last month. It was repeated by the different speakers in different ways that Kingdom wealth is meant to advance the Kingdom of God. You are to represent the Lord in the marketplace. When wealth acquisition becomes the target rather than what it will be used to do in order to glorify God, it becomes idolatry.
But this can be fixed by having the right focus and walking in the clear understanding and purpose for it. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour, walk in this revelation and in total submission to Him. You can never go wrong on this path.
Jesus loves you enough to lay down His life for you to live above sin and sorrow. He died young so you can live long. He rose from the dead so you can be empowered above sin and death. So, what further excuse do you have? Today is the day of salvation.
I pray that your understanding of who the Lord is shall become deeper as you walk in the marketplace to see His great acts.
Jesus is Lord!
