And through his policy also he shall cause craft to proper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; he shall be broken without hand. Daniel 8:25
Daniel’s visions have remained quite intriguing till date. Many have given diverse interpretations to them. Many have predicted all sorts of things about them. But the historical facts have also confirmed some of them.
However, our major concern today will be what affects us personally in all these. One thing that runs through this week for discussions on this page is the issue of pride.
This figure presented in this verse got his shot at power. He had a great and prosperous government. It is said that through the policy of his government, craft prospered. Now, that is great. However, in the next line, we saw what that did to his person. He magnified himself in his heart. The simple interpretation of that is: he became proud.
He went ahead to attack and destroy people through a pretence at peace making. But when he tried that with the power higher than him, he was broken without mercy.
What key take aways should we be having from all these?
Humility is key to obtaining God’s mercy and approval. His prosperity should not mean we should become cocky. Let us remain under His guidance and help.
Deceiving people may work for a while. Eventually, it becomes the Achilles heel of the person doing it.
Standing up against God and His Kingdom, even by pretending to be joking, could lead to self annihilation. It is a wiser move to honour and reverence Him. He holds the breath of your life. Never forget that.
So, the safest place to be is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. When you do and begin to follow Him in total yieldedness to His love and guidance, you will qualify to stand before Him in constant joy, peace and unstoppable advancement in life and destiny.
Wishing you the grace to walk with the mighty King of kings that leads with absolute faithfulness to preserve and advance you always in Jesus name. Amen
Enjoy your weekend.
