Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

Daniel 4:37

It is so interesting to see a pagan king pouring all this encomium on God. When you experience unforgettable life realities, you learn deep life lessons. He went through a serious learning curve and learned a great lesson.

As it is usual with God, He will always give you the chance to do the needful. Nebuchadnezzar had a dream. Daniel interpreted the dream. At the end of that interpretation, he gave an unsolicited advice to the king to repent and make his ways right before God so that the content of the dream would not happen to him. Daniel did not hide what would happen to him from him. He told Nebuchadnezzar clearly that the dream was about him and it could be averted with total repentance and humility.

I guess he listened and tried to make amends. At least, that is what it appeared to be because it took a whole 12-month cycle before that dream came true and became Nebuchadnezzar’s reality.

One of two things could have happened: he either humbled himself and tried to live up to Daniel’s advice to him or he totally forgot the counsel and was actually living on God’s mercy throughout this period. Whichever it was, he finally gave in to his pride. He praised himself as the one that accomplished so much and while he was busy strutting around his palace in his pride and self-praise, God’s judgement hit him hard. He was abased and turned into a human beast that had to live in the wild for seven solid years.

When he came back to himself, he had no choice than to take a recourse to praising God who humbled him, preserved his throne and restored his dignity at the end of proving to him that he was nothing without God’s mercy on him and his little kingdom of Babylon.

This has been the core focus of our daily out reach to you. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. That is the only sure security you have in this wicked world. Pride will take you nowhere; only God can make all the difference you need to excel in life.

Jesus is Lord!

May today bring you into the clear understanding of God’s forceful grace that leads you to the place He has prepared for you in life in Jesus name.
