Disinheriting the People

Moreover the prince shall not take of the people’s inheritance by oppression, to thrust them out of their possession; but he shall give his sons inheritance out of his own possession: that my people may be not scattered every man from his possession. Ezekiel 46:18

What the Lord expects of the leader of His people is to worship along with them (Ezekiel 46:10) and not be focused on how to endlessly collect from them by dispossessing them of their limited resources.

In Nigeria, the so called leaders focus is on taxing the people until the they tax their blood too. They are told that this is to bring development in the community. However the only development seen remains that of the riches of these vampires calling themselves leaders.

Every air being breathed is being taxed. When Ngugi wa Thiong’o wrote about The Grain of Wheat, it looked like a far-fetched reality. However, the level of people’s impoverishment  in Nigeria is alarming.

But you don’t have to be a victim of heartless politicians. You can separate yourself from that harsh reality. All you need is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. When you walk in the reality of His Word, He brings you into a state of a more acceptable reality in the midst of the famine.

And this is not an offer to you as ‘opium of the masses’. This is because what is offered to you is not an escapist outlet but a reality of a life that you deserve as a human being created by God. It is offered to you as a practical step to self preservation. Belonging to Jesus Christ does not entail folding your arms and waiting for manna to fall from heaven on your laps. It means being led by the Spirit of God to access the secrets of the Kingdom which takes you to your place of colourful destiny as you work out His instructions and directions. It is that simple.

I did not say it is easy but that it is simple. You walk with God; He guides you all the way to become who you should be. You could also be the actual solution to Nigeria’s problems. How do you become if you do not stand on the pedestal He prepared for you to fulfil your purpose?

I pray that the Lord shall open your eye of understanding to see His plan for your life and grant you the courage to fulfil your purpose in life today and always in Jesus name. Amen.

Happy Midweek to you all!
