We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee.
Jeremiah 14:20

True repentance starts with acknowledging our sins. If we brush over our wickedness and pretend we are good when we are not, how do we expect God’s forgiveness?

A proverb says that you won’t be long on your knees begging for pardon if you when you accept your fault (A ki i pẹ l’ori ikunlẹ t’aba mọ ẹbi ẹni).

The first step to forgiveness and healing has the acceptance of our sinfulness. Whether that sin is committed against a person or against the divine. Then we ask God for forgiveness. If it is against a person, we should be brave enough to meet and tell them we are sorry.

Indeed, healing in relationships can only be truly done if we are humble and accept our shortcomings. From the part of the offended, we should be ready to forgive when forgiveness is sought through true repentance.

With God, a broken and a contrite heart is likely to receive pardon all th time. So, today is another opportunity to receive mercy because you choose to change your ways and turn away from the wrong path. God’s mercy never ceases. However, we must earn it by truly changing and not pretending. That will amount to another sin.

May His mercy reach you today as you acknowledge your ways and ask Him to become your Lord and personal Saviour. I will be very glad to guide you through that journey.

Jesus is Lord!
