The words of Amos, who was among the herdsmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake. Amos 1:1
Most often than not, we think of the Bible as many things except where to find the secrets of the world before our modern times. However, those who have opened up themselves to the Holy Ghost have found the Bible containing historical and geographical facts they could not ignore.
Joshua’s battlefield wonder of stopping the sun for a whole day has its scientific consequences in history. The moving back of the clock by 15 degrees recorded as a sign of God’s promised healing to Hezekiah was a mystery that took geographers and scientists many centuries to figure out before they could resolve it in their calculations.
Today, we see Amos stating that the events he had recorded happened two years before the earthquake. Now, the question is: when did this earthquake occur? I am still trying to search this out. If you have the answer, please, put it in the comments so all of us can learn from it.
This morning, it struck me how much the Bible has recorded for us to find answers to the puzzles in our world. You can be sure that those who need these answers are those who won’t open themselves a Bible to read it. For them, it encourages the people to become less self-aware. For the wise, unravelling the secrets the Bible holds is the fastest way to ‘make it’ in life.
Nonetheless, let it be clear that the Bible is neither a talisman nor a magic wand. What it offers is what the world needs. How it is accessed is through humility and not self-righteous arguments to prove a point.
Every time I make these posts from the Bible, I ask the One who put the secrets there to open my eyes to what He wants you and I to draw out of this well of salvation today. When He tells me, I relate it to you.
However, you too can access these secrets to apply them to your life, work, ministry and destiny. You just need the access key, which is simply to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. When you live to please Him after taking this first step, He opens the secrets in His word to you layer by layer as you remain obedient and humbled to be guided by His Holy Spirit.
Thank you, Lord Jesus!
