They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt. Hosea 7:16
The whole of this chapter is a record of Israel’s hypocritical ways. Despite all the punishment it received for its wrongdoings, it decided to seek help from places where there is no help.
Much more, they were busy accusing God instead of turning away from their wicked ways. They continued to see God as the enemy despite the many times He had rescued them from destruction.
This is how many of us are when undergoing God’s scolding. Instead of taking it in our stride and finding out where we became wrong in order to fix it, we turn bitter and angry at God asking: Why me? As if there are specific people made for suffering other than ourselves.
God is so kind that He gives us many opportunities to mend our ways. However, we always think it is a licence to do more wickedly. We do not stop and think that it is God asking us to change our ways. When His judgement arrives, we start blaming the village people.
And this is not to minimise the possibility of that too. It is to tell us that the first place we should check is the state of our hearts and relationship with God.
But how do you even begin to talk of a relationship with God without first giving your life to Jesus Christ. This is where it begins.
Until you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour, you’ve not even started on this journey of salvation. That is what I want you to do first today.
You can comment ‘salvation’ or reach out to me through my contact details for us to continue this conversation on how you can build a relationship with the Almighty God.
Jesus loves you.
I pray that His love and mercy shall find you today to guide you through all the traps the enemy sets, so that you come out victorious as you trust Him absolutely in the marketplace in Jesus name. Amen.
