A King and His Stupidity

Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.
Jeremiah 36:28

The stupidest thing a human being could do is to give themselves the unfortunate task of fighting against God. This king of Judah received a message on what God was going to do to his land through the hand of the king of Babylon. Unfortunately, he thought too highly of himself to listen to reason. He decided that the way out of those things happening was to burn the scroll on which the message came. That was the stupidest move he could have made. Even when some of his advisers begged him not to do it, he didn’t listen. He chose his path in the matter and burned the scroll.

He forgot a simple truth: the scroll was not the source of the message, God is. And God is an everlasting God.

Even when Moses angrily broke the tablets containing the covenant, God told him to come back to the mountain to have another set written. Being one of his ancestors, this king should have heard the story and know that God who sent the first message was able to resend the message. Unfortunately for him, the message now had additional penalties added due to his stupid act of burning the scroll.

I know that many so called leaders usually felt untouchable. So, they could do and undo in their little corner. They forget that God only gave them the opportunity and could also take away the opportunity or they would receive punishment for the misuse of the opportunity.

The fact that you occupy a position of power or authority today should actually humble you for the privilege of being given that opportunity. If you begin to feel that you are too high to be talked to anymore, then you are in trouble.

I pray that God will open your eyes to understand that what you need right now is Jesus Christ in your corner and not your shoulder going a top higher.

Begin this journey by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour.

Jesus is Lord!
