The Excellent Name of Jesus Christ

Psalm 8:1-9

Going through my Bible this morning, the awesomeness of the name of Jesus leapt out to me. Most often, we think it is a joke and we bandied it around. However, when we understand the miracle in this name, we will bow our heads in honour for the privilege of being able to pronounce this name with our sinful mouths.

What is in the name of Jesus Christ?

1. That name is the name that is above all other names, whether in heaven, on earth and underneath the earth, Philippians 2:5. There is no greater name upon the earth like the name of Jesus Christ, no matter what lies you had been told to the contrary.

2. That name is the greatest defence against the enemy and sin. It is the greatest tower you can hide inside of to be safe against all machinations of hell and its cohorts, Galatians 2:20; Colossians 3:3.

3. It is the majestic name that beautifies your life with colour when you hold no promise or glory before all peoples. Just believe in that name, honour it and use it effectively, and your life transforms like magic with divine glory, 1 Peter 2:9.

4. Jesus’ love is your coverage against sin (Proverbs 18:10) and dishonour, because the name means ‘He is the Anointed Saviour’, Matthew 1:21. Won’t you accept Him as your Lord and personal Saviour and change your story from sorry to glory?

What You can do

The ball is in your court. Simply pray and acknowledge that you are a sinner who needs His vicarious death on the cross to speak in your life, Acts 2:38. And He will accept you and save you when you confess your sins and readily forsake them, Romans 3:23; 6:23. His rising from the dead is to give you victory over sin, death and hell.
