Walking in the Highways of Holiness part 2

by Pastor David Oyedepo jnr

Until we commit to sanctification, we cannot maximise redemption.

It is only through sanctification

1 Thessalonians 2:3; 2 Timothy 2:19

The scripture describes holiness as beautiful.

Sanctification secures answers to prayers, Isaiah 59:1,2. Sin will always bring a disconnection from God, Psalm 35:15. It is not every cry that God hears; He hears only the prayer of the righteous, James 5:16. The prayer of a sinful person delivers nothing. If we are going to gain answers, we must keep up his standards. It is those pleasing to God that receives answers to prayers. It is not depended on how loud are our prayers but our level of righteousness.

Only God can answer human beings at any point. You may want to call and there is no network. It is only God that is the source of answers.

Sanctification gives supernatural supplies, Psalm 37:18,19; 112:1-3. Until it is well with us spiritually, it cannot be well with us materially.

Holiness is not a state of perfection but a sustained thirst and hunger for righteousness.

Some controlling powers

  1. The lust of the eyes — covetousness: it is inordinate love for money; it is the worship of money and material things, Matthew 6:24. God is not against you having money but God is against money having you. Covetousness is on rampage in our age. The remedy for covetousness is contentment, Hebrews 13:5,6. God is interested in enlarging you but He wants you to be content with what you have now.
  2. The lust of the flesh, 1 John 2:6; 1 Corinthians 10:8. 23,000 people died in one day because of sexual perversion. God’s standard is the same. Proverbs 31:2,3, immorality destroys the royal destiny of the believer. The covenant remedy, 1 Corinthians 6:18, flee fornication; 1 Thessalonians 4:3.
    • Practical things to demonstrate fleeing,
      • refuse to be alone with the opposite sex.
      • Don’t separate from your spouse.
      • Create time, space and conversation boundaries, Ecclesiastes 3:7.  Don’t let modern life murder your marriage. Most times, moral failure is because of moral boundaries.
  3. End time satanic siege, 2 Timothy 3:1-5. The remedy from the last days siege is to disconnect. One of the greatest infringements on our sanctification is our association, 1 Corinthians 15:33. Friendship is not by force but by choice. Anyone not going where you are going is not worthy of your association. It is better to be alone than to be linked to unlike minds. Association will determine your perception, Proverbs 13:20. It also determines your conversation and affects your action. Association has spiritual impact; be careful about your associations. Learn to cut off from associations that are not heading to where you are going.

How to conquer controlling powers

  1. by prayers, Matthew 6:9-13; John 10:10. We must pray daily to be saved daily.
  2. Spirit of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the enemy, Ephesians 6:16; 1 Timothy 6:12. Out faith is our key to a victorious life, 1 John 4:5
  3. Spirit of wisdom to preserve from things that defile, Deuteronomy 34:9; Proverbs 22:9. Wisdom is a vital key to be free from the hold the controlling powers. Proverbs 11:9

Holiness is not a state of perfection but a sustainable hunger and thirst after righteousness, Philippians 3:12-16. Don’t go back from the things you have already conquered.

Repentance is the only way to get back to God. Where there is no true sorrow, there is no repentance.

All our labours requires sanctification to be profitable, 2 Corinthians 7:1

Let us get back to the altar and cry to God for true cleansing. He is ever faithful to receive us and restore us.
